Calls for joy flight review after deadly Gold Coast Sea World helicopter crash

 Helicopter joy flights should never have been approved in the area where the Sea World tragedy occurred, according to an aviation expert. Neil Hansford, who has worked in the industry for 40 years, says the approval of several chopper operations kilometres apart from one another in a dense residential area would not have occurred in any other Australian city. Broncos prop Payne Haas's mother Joan Taufua remanded over manslaughter charges

 The mother of Brisbane Broncos player Payne Haas will remain behind bars on manslaughter charges until March after her lawyer abandoned a bail application in a Gold Coast court today. Uiatu "Joan" Taufua, 46, is the sole survivor of the crash that killed Susan Zimmer, 70, her partner Chris Fawcett, 79, and Ms Zimmer's daughter Steffanie at Bonogin on December 23 last year. Ms Taufua was charged with three counts of manslaughter and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police and driving without a licence. Widden Stud 'super filly' breaks record on day two of Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Gold Coast

 A rising two-year-old "super filly" has set a new thoroughbred yearling record, selling for $2.6 million at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast.   Vendors Widden Stud, from the NSW Hunter Valley, are "over the moon". "It's a real thrill. The team has worked so hard," Widden owner Antony Thompson said. Bidding opened at $1 million for the Zoustar x Solar Charged filly and saw fierce competition, both in person and online. "She's very likely to be the absolute best filly to be offered for sale in Australia all year," the auctioneer told the crowd.
